Tianfu Hooot Shopping Center, located at Tianfu Square in the heart of Chengdu, was formerly known as the Chengdu Department Store.
After several transformations, it was renamed Tianfu Hooot in 2020. Initially, it featured a “nostalgic” theme, aiming to recreate the street scenes of old Chengdu from the 1970s and 1980s, but this approach did not achieve significant success. Over time, Tianfu Hooot gradually shifted to a “second dimension” (anime) theme, attracting a large number of young consumers.
Tianfu Hooot has nine floors, each showcasing different thematic styles, with the seventh floor being a standout for its 1980s retro street, providing visitors with a strong sense of nostalgia.
The shopping center boasts a wide array of anime merchandise stores and regularly hosts anime conventions, cosplay competitions, and other events, making it a hub for anime enthusiasts.
Tianfu hooot’s success is closely linked to Chengdu’s thriving animation industry and anime culture, offering young people a platform to express themselves and pursue their interests while injecting new vitality into the Tianfu Square commercial area.
